Privacy Policy
Effective July 28, 2026. Ninth is a comic reader. It is built so that your data stays yours: there are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no server of ours that stores your library.
Your library
Comics you import, reading progress, lists, and settings live on your device. On Apple platforms you can optionally sync them through your personal iCloud account; that data is stored in your private iCloud database, which we cannot access.
Dropbox
If you connect Dropbox, Ninth asks for read access to your files solely to list folders and download the comics you choose. Transfers happen directly between your device and Dropbox. The sign-in tokens are stored only on your device (iOS/macOS Keychain, Android Keystore) and are removed when you disconnect. We never see, relay, or store your Dropbox contents or credentials.
Your own servers
OPDS, Komga, and Kavita connections talk directly from your device to the server you configure. Credentials are stored on-device in the system keychain.
Metadata lookups
When you identify an issue, the app queries our metadata service (api.theninth.app) with series titles and issue numbers — never personal information. Requests are not used to build profiles. Metadata comes from the Grand Comics Database (CC BY-SA 4.0).
